SEFL Meeting Reminder!

by SEFL on Jun.14, 2009, under News

SEFL League Meeting!

The Southeast Football League is reminding all Owners and potential Owners that it will be holding its second 2010 League Operational Planning meeting of the fiscal year. The meeting will be held at “Tailgaters Sports Bar”, located at 5000 Okeechobee Ave., in Fort Pierce, Fl. The meeting will start Saturday July 18th and Sunday July 19th promptly at 11:00am. (Exit 152 off Turnpike and Exit 129 off I-95 and go East off both exits.)

Being apart of the SEFL entitles you many things, some of which are;

1. An economically friendly league fee of $1500.

2. A vote as a valued League Owner. Not a watered downed vote where a “so-called” Executive Board still does what they choose. Here, your vote actually counts.

3. A competitve League schedule. Our teams are competitve from top to bottom. Including 7 teams ranked in the top 50 in the country.

4. A travel friendly schedule that you can manage.

5. An Opportunity to play for an actual National Championship.

6. An opportunity for your players to become apart of our newly established SEFL Players Association.

These are just a few of the many things we have to offer in the SEFL. The SEFL has been doing things here in Florida for 9 years now and only one other league can make that claim. And as another league so proudly state, “You get what you pay for”, but what you pay for over here and receive is equal to and exceeds what you get over there at half the price.

It’s time for you to stop listening to what others are saying about the league that has forged the way for others to feel they can do it better, but time to come and find out for yourselves. So come and find out about the League that is doing it the right way, the SEFL!

For more information contact the league at 407-285-9372.

ENOUGH SAID!

by SEFL on May.17, 2009, under News

Last night in Fort Pierce, it became official. The Brevard Warriors became the best in the Southeast Football League! The Warriors completely handled the Central Florida Thoroughbreds in what many thought, was going to be an exciting championship game, but turned into a scalping party for the Warriors.

The Warriors got on the board first when QB Adam Coufman hit RB Jarrel Kelley down the left sideline for a long touchdown pass, putting them ahead 7-0. The Thoroughbreds took their next possession and efficiently moved down the field and tied the score at 7 when LB Yohance Clark (playing fullback) scored on a short run up the middle. And it appeared that we were about to see a great contest, but it was not to be, that was the closest the Thoroughbreds would get the rest of the evening. Kelley scored once more in the second quarter with a draw off the left side to a 14-7 lead. The ensuing kick-off, showed how stunned the Thoroughbreds were when they failed to put anyone on the front line of their return team, letting the Warriors recover an onside kick with 53 seconds left in the half. Coufman hit Kelley down the sideline getting the Warriors to 14 yard line with 9 seconds remaining. But on the next play, as time expired in the first half, Coufman pass over the middle, was intercepted in the end zone.

Halftime appeared to have helped the Thoroughbreds get back on track. Led by Clark, they quickly, established themselves and stopped the Warriors with a three and out series. The Thoroughbreds offense then went on to kick a 39 yard field goal by K Jason Yellin, moving them closer, 14-10. Yellin also set a league record with a 71 yard punt earlier in the game. “I thought it was anybody’s game at that point. It looked like the T-breds were starting to regain their confidence and the Warriors was a little skittish”, said League President. He couldn’t have been more wrong. The Warriors proceeded to score 31 unanswered points, winning their first SEFL title, 45-10. Closing out the scoring was RB Dereese Muhammad scoring twice, CB Anthony Clark returning one of the four interceptions for a score, and Kelley, fittingly, scoring the last TD. The Warriors became the second team to have made it to the championship game in their first year, but are the first to have won it in their initial year.

Now, what remains for the Warriors is unknown. Being the SEFL Champ, they will receive an automatic invite to play in one of the three National Championship games played during “Super Weekend”, but their opponent is anyone’s guest right now. Whatever their path, I’m sure they will be represent the Warriors family with pride.

THE SOUTHEAST FOOTBALL LEAGUE CHAMPION BREVARD WARRIORS!

Game MVP’S

#1 Jarrel Kelley, Brevard Warriors

#7 Yohance Clark, Central Florida Thoroughbreds

Comments being left on the board!

by SEFL on May.01, 2009, under News

As with any company and/or business, you will have a certain amount of disgruntled employees. As well, you will not and cannot please everyone, and with that, I first say, I am sorry and apologize for any inconveinences that may have been caused to anyone. But I must say this, the comment sections of this site is meant to express your views about the issue that has been written, if you choose to do some good natured trash talking, then I feel that is good too. Even if you’d like to query some of the things that has or is happening within the league, then by all means, go right ahead, but what I will not allow to happen, is for anybody to leave comments that is intended to demean or badmouth the league. Like with any business, the integrity of what they stand for will not be compromised. I am as big an advocate you’ll have for freedom of speech (with the exception of foul words) and will just about let anything post, but the comments about the league will stop. I understand many of you may be upset, and if you choose to disassociate yourselves with our league, well, that’s your choice, and I can respect that. But I ask you to respect my decision as well.

Now, the state of the league; It is impossible for things to be fixed in this league unless we have the total cooperation of all parties involved. That’s starting with the Owners, down to the players. This situation concerning the playoffs with the Knights and the Kings would have been a moot point if both teams had the league in mind. I am truly dissappointed that I have been put in the position of having to rule in anyone’s favor at all. Both teams were at the field, the game should have gotten played, period! Cut all the crap about this stuff about the field. Yes, certain criteria should be met, but when your very own field is parrelled to where you will play, I think you have lost your support for your concern. Secondly, the officials determined it was playable. As I have stated, things will get better, this I promise, but it will only happen when we all take care of our individual responsibilities.

Minor league football in Florida is in a sad state, and I am saying that regarding all leagues here, the SEFL, FFA, SSFL, FSFL, NIFL and whoever will pop up next. For as small as this state is, there is definitely no room for as many league as we have. I came about minor league football here in Florida in 2003 as an assistant coach of a team. At that time, there were two leagues, the SEFL and the SSFL. My question is, what happened? Ego’s! That’s what has happened. There’s always someone in line saying, “I can do it better”, and maybe they can. But I ask, why not stay wherever you’re at and make that situation better? I’ve had plenty opportunities to leave the SEFL, but my honest desire is to help this league achieve a level of success immeasurable. I have no desire to be the “Man”, only a desire for “Us” to be the best, and this will never change. I am so disgusted with all the junk that is being perpetuated in this state, it’s sickening, and for many of you not knowing the history and full story of what’s going on, but then adding your unwarranted comments, further adds to my dismay. I challenge you all to ask your Owners, and if you’re in another league, ask your League Presidents and Commissioners, for all parties to have an open forum. Ask that all parties come together and discuss their differences and see what response you get. Let me be the first to say, I am definitely in on that and will be so willing to participate.

In summation, the SEFL will continue moving forward and will make positive strides. You can stay, or join, and be a positive force in what I will accomplish, or not, but all the same, we “WILL” get there! Thank you for reading my comment.

SEFL President,

Anthony Smith Sr.

SEFL and Sunshine Bowl Weekend!

by SEFL on Mar.03, 2009, under Miami Warriors

2009 Super Sports Weekend

7TH ANNUAL SUNSHINE BOWL GAMES

Did you know that there are, according to the Semi-Pro HQ, “over eight-hundred teams in the United States alone that refer to themselves as semi-pro, minor league, professional development, senior amateur, or adult amateur in over sixty different leagues?”

These players usually have played high school or college ball, and they want to continue competing after their eligibility has been exhausted. The vast majority of these players do not get paid to play … they truly compete for the love of the game. They purchase their own equipment, pay for their own transportation/ lodging to/from games and home game expenses.”

This often overlooked level of football is the reason we decided seven years ago to bring the champions of their respective leagues together in one super extravaganza…thus the Sunshine Bowl Super Weekend. We see, firsthand, the dedication, determination, sacrifices and injuries these young men endure just to pursue their dreams of playing at the next level. For some, this is the next level. With them in mind, we wanted to make the public aware of these players and showcase their tremendous athletic abilities and quality of play. So, …

On January 17-19, 2009, we presented our seventh (7th) SUPER WEEKEND series of championship bowl games for a total of six (6) minor league games plus an Open Pro Combine Tryout.  This year, for the first time, we added three (3) Youth Football bowl games with amazing response. The Sunshine Bowl Hall of Honor  also made its debut.

All games were played at the Harris Field complex in Homestead, Florida. The YMCA is located within the complex and is where the Hall of Honor was displayed. Go to www.sunshinebowlex.com  to see more.

The Sunshine Bowl is hosted by;

Southeast Football League    and the   , Mr. & Mrs. Jesse Wiggins.
